Comments: | I think your site was great to browse through... you see, i have had a lot of time to think about how bullshit religion is but not enough time to go so in depth as you do. You've helped me answer a whole lot of questions that christians keep bombarding me with. I never stopped believing in "god" because i wanted to rebel, i just failed to see that it cold ever possibly be true, I never argue with anyone and advertise my beliefs because everyone always has excuses, so thanks a lot for your help. Now they'll leave me alone. |

Comments: | f**kin great dude! this stuff is what has made me so neurotic for most of my life. the first doubts to ever arise in my mind started when I was about 7. i had severe asthma and one time everyone in the room started praying for me. i was really suffering but it didn't go away and came and went all the time-this gasping little kid-and have it still as a 58 year old adult. i know where most religious people can take this but the fact is that i suffered attacks until my late teens. was i a bad boy? god didn't love me? most of my maternal family are fundamentalist christians who are pretty good people for the most part but "jesus saves" is their mantra and the bible is their god. none of them can answer an honest question about that collection of ancient writings that was produced and controlled by the catholic church, all the different sects at the time that didn't evolve into popekings and the trappings of pseudo royalty that mutated into their evangelical megachurches of screaming preachers, fear of hell, racism, judgmental, and intellectual dishonesty. being gay was a double wammy! to make it quick, who f**king has the absolute, true, and only god? why doesn't every religion duke it out in stadiums instead of f**king up everybody else's lives. i think life is just amazing. all the senses, sizes, colors, spaces, and i celebrate that and think that the god of all gods doesn't give a shit about religious practices of any kind and love for all humankind is a best practice.. he/she/it is/are seeing/being every breath, atom that makes us who we are. enough. totally cool to find all you people. believe, me, i will read everything on this website. Comments: | Hello, i am a 16 year old female who is currently enroled at a North Queensland Australian Catholic school. i know i may not have the experience to question you or your beleifs on this subject, because they are in fact your beleifs but i was just wondering what made you question Christianity in such a way that you had to create your own website for the world to see. I am wondering this because there are times when i question things in this religion and was just wondering why you chose to do this???? I do not think this is how people should react to religions of the world so why did you react in such a way to put somebody elses beleifs down? |

Comments: | Interesting website. But you got it wrong on agnosticism. Being agnostic and being an atheist are two completely different things. An atheist is certain that there's no god, whereas an agnostic states that it's impossible to say whether one exists or not. |

No December 27, 2005 5:00:27 (GMT Time) My Response Drew, This is what I said in my F.A.Q..."I honestly don't think there is a real difference between an agnostic and an atheist. Agnostics claim that there isn't enough evidence to say one way or the other of whether God exists or not. I think agnostics call themselves an agnostic instead of an atheist, because they feel they will be more sociably accepted." There are also different levels of atheism; there is the strong atheist, (the position I myself hold) who not only have a disbelief in gods, but also claim that gods do not exist. The weak atheist just has a disbelief in gods, but does not come right out and say that gods do not exist; they just don't believe in them. Either you believe in gods or you don't believe in gods. |

Comments: | Excellent site, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sometimes it seems impossible to talk sense to believers, the ones who would try to strike up a debate every chance they get. It is simple enough to dismiss god out of hand in that there is no evidence one does exist. And, a reasonable person does not believe something without good reason to do so. Still, your site inspires me to actually mince religious words with believers in that maybe they might see reality as you did. Back in college I wrote a paper on “The Argument from Evil”. It logically evaluates a common philosophical argument which attempts to show that the Christian god cannot exist. You might find it an interesting read. Drop me a line if you would like to see it. |

Comments: | Hey, I just got finished
browsing your site. I read most everything on here. As a youth
pastor, at a saved church 9not to confuse with the Mormon Church) I
found your site interesting. I have many conversations with my
friends about free will. And some "contradictions" in the Bible. It
boils down to 2 things. Faith and Relationship. We have to believe
in the things unseen. I can't believe that this life is all. And if
you don’t have a relationship with God, than all you have is a
religion. While in Japan I found this even more to be true. Where
Christianity is around 1% of the population. Buddhism and Shinto’s
teach nothing about having a personal relation ship with God. It's
more of an impersonal pray once a day thing and do good to others.
As for the section on heaven, I really don’t have any answers. All I
know is we will not be the same (mind, body, soul) as we are now, so
as for what we will do I’m not sure, but I do know that being in the
presence of all mighty God, we'll have many thing to praise Him for.
After all if we knew everything about God and the Bible, then we
would be God and there would be no need for Him. We were put on
Earth to worship God and tell others about Him. Does he want us to
think for ourselves? Yes, sure he knows what we are doing and what
we will do, but does that mean He isn’t in control? The story of Job
tell this very well, despite everything that happened Job knew God
was in control of the situation so why worry? Why concern ourselves
over what translation is right or wrong? Why worry about what heaven
is going to be like or hell for that matter? Why worry about how
Noah crammed all those animals on the boat? It's faith and nothing
more, I believe in things unseen, I believe that God isn’t some
angry kid with a magnifying glass trying to burn us. He loves us; He
wants us to live for Him. But He isn’t beyond wrath. Again it's all
in his hands I’m just along for the ride, and whatever I can do to
pursue Him and live for him I will. That doesn’t mean I wont have a
crappy day, or tragedy wont strike, its just means I have faith. I'm
sorry to see you have given up on your beliefs, believe me there are
all time when people need to question what they believe in. Don't
give up hope in the Almighty One. Andrew |

Comments: | Derrick, I was just looking over your site and I thought I would drop you a note. I would like to begin by saying that I totally respect your right to our opinion and the freedom you have to express those thoughts. I think the internet is a wonderful forum for the exchange of ideas. I have one question for you. Question: Is this web site to taken seriously or is this just a place for you to go an atheistic rant? If it is to be taken seriously I was wondering how well have you researched the Christian faith and Christian apologetics? You make a lot of points and togther they look impressive but upon closer inspection most of them are just one line answers that frankly don't seem well reasearched at all. I have no doubt you are a very intellegent person. Therefore, I would suggest that if you are going to try to dismantle the faith that millions of rational and intelligent people around the globe hold to it would be wise on your part to do your homework. With all due respect men and women with much greater minds than you and I have gone where you are trying to go and they have not been very successful. Here are some books I would recommend. Perhaps you have read them, if not I would encourage you to do so, in fact if you are interested I will buy them for you and send them to you free of charge (just email me and let me know). The books are: 1. Evidence that demands a verdict- by Josh McDowell 2. When Critics Ask- by Norm Geisler 3. When Skeptics Ask- by Norm Geisler 4. The Case for Christ- by Lee Strobel 5. The Case for Faith- By Lee Strobel 6. The Case for Easter- by Lee Strobel 7. I don't have enough faith to be an Atheist- by Geisler and Turek These are just a few of many and they are a bit easier for the layperson to read. These would good books for you to read, even if you do not agree with what they say or you would like to dismiss them out of hand. If you are going to operate this web site with any integrity that study is imparative for you. I would probably help your agrument! My writing this was for your encouragement. I'd be happy to send you some free books. Just let me know. Thanks. Jon |

Comments: | I would just have to say
that I do not agree with anything that you say hear. I'm doing a
paper for my class about a hypothetical conversation between a
Christian and an Atheist. I appreciate the information that I have
found useful for my conversation. I also have a simple question. You
claimed to have been Christian and yet you say you never thought the
bible was divinely inspired by God, how is that possible? Why were
you a Christian if you did not believe what was going on in the
bible? Why were you a Christian if you believe that the bible is
false and not the inspired word of God? Also with interpreting the bible, there are disrepentsies simply because of the fact it may mean something different to someone different simply because the Holy Spirit spoke to them differently then another on a certain passage. The Bible has also been translated into many different versions simply because of the fact that some find different translations eiser to read and easier to understand? Is that such a crime? Just because there are different versions doesn't mean they mean different, some are just easier understandable to some people and some are to others. All-powerful is simply all powerful. God can't do things that would be against his character, such as God can't be evil or create evil. God is perfect and flawless. The many things that he created that have flaws and are imperfect is because of the fall of man and sin. Just like God did not create evil. God did not create imperfections. God created everything in perfect harmony with everything else but with the fall of man, those things changed, The Devil Twisted things that God had made to make them have flaws and imperfections. I agree with you that those aren't miracles, but I also disagree with you that miracles happen. Have you ever heard of people being miraculously cured of Cancer when they were going to die? How do you explain that? Oh the medicine cured them... oh... it flooded out of there system... whatever the excuses are none of them make sense but miracles. Atheism is a religion. Basically what I see a religion as is a set of beliefs in which you build your life upon. What you believe shapes your worldveiw. And also what you don't believe shapes your worldveiw. A religion is a systerm of beliefs that you base your living and life on. A religion isn't defined; or rather shouldn't be defined by if you believe in a God or not. . If humans evolved from apes, why do apes still exist? A. Simple. Man did not evolve from modern apes. Humans and apes did however evolve from the same common ancestor. Have you ever heard of the missing links in this system? While if you actually take the time to scientifically figure it out there are more then "missing links" people today call it the missing chain. Even people who are not Christians call it that... there is no chain of proof when it comes between apes and man the chain is missing. Have you ever read refuting evolution? You can find it here: http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/RE1/index.asp read that and then tell me what you think. I'm done for now. Read that website and respond to my comment. I want to here more about you have to say. I will be back. |

Why have a hypothetical conversation with an atheist, when you can have the real thing? I will answer you this...I USED to be a Christian, so I USED to believe the Bible was God's divine word. I no longer believe that; hence part of the reason I am now an atheist. If you would like to have a conversation, drop me an email. |

Comments: | I too, turned my back on
religious belief long ago. I recognized it to be the great anchor
that holds mankind back. I wish you the best, and always stand for
what you believe in...no matter what the millions of blind believers
spout from their mouths. Never forget that it was religious belief
that motivated a group of men to fly jet airplanes into the World
Trade Center on September 11, 2001. And so it is with ALL religion,
no matter the creed. It is a tool of the weak-minded, akin to the
effects of crack-cocaine addiction on a healthy person. It may take
some time, but Christianity, Islam , etc. will be relegated to the
dustbin of history, along with Nazism, fascism, and you-name-it. -HRH |

Comments: | I read your deconversion story. I have almost the same story. The only difference is that I found the truth. I grew up in a baptist church. Everyone always talked about being saved, I said the prayer, I never felt saved. The things I was being fed didn't seem completely true. It had some truth but wasn't all the truth. It was twisted a little. I have a lot more I could tell you but I don't type very well. I would encourage you to look into the LDS Church. Don't look at the Anti-Mormon stuff, look at the true stuff. LDS.org and mormon.org are good sites. |

Comments: | I read your problems with God. You should look into the theology of the LDS church. Many questions will be answered. |

Comments: | Hi Derrick! I'm with Leslie and all the other Christians here. You left Christ, but that doesn't mean He will leave you (alone). You need a relationship not religion Derrick. There is a difference. I hope you find that someday and pray whole-heartedly you do brother! You know He is waiting for you to come back and still loves and forgives you in spite of yourself and your current viewpoints. God bless you Derrick! |
