Comments: hey man, i know you say that you don't believe in God now, but i think that every once in a while you think back and wonder if you are wrong. if maybe God is real. maybe when you were a christian something really bad happened to you and this is your way of paying God back. this is what i think you should do. ask God to give you some sort of sign that would let you know that he is real. he may do it through pain and suffering. you dont really have much to lose do you?

Comments: Hi,

I just happened to stumble upon your site while browsing the internet and while I was not presented with much new information regarding the inconsistancies of christianity (being agnostic myself), I just wished to express my own views on evangelism.

I find this arrogant preaching to be the most repulsive aspect of christianity. I have no problem with someone believing in God for whatever reasons, I just hate anyone who forces their own views upon others and christians tend to do this ALOT.

To all the quiet introspective christians do not take this personally, but to all the egotistical loud-mouthed preachers; FUCK UP!

Comments: I am amazed at so-called freethinkers and atheists. If a person is a freethinker, then why do they need someone to tell them how to think? And it is also amazing that atheists are such BIGOTs against Christians! Communists are atheists and they killed/murdered at least 60,000,000 people (USSR, 20,000,000; China, 35,000,000; Cambodia, 1,700,000). So why the hypocricy?

Comments: Unlike most people, I didn’t loose faith and one day and decided to be atheist. I am third generation atheist and am very happy about it. I don’t talk about it with people; I just keep it to myself. I was baptized in an Anglican church and tell people this when they ask my religion.

I don’t believe in anything supernatural. I don’t believe in the tooth fairy, ghosts, UFOs, big foot, God, haunted houses, Santa Clause, miracles, Lockness monsters, etc. Living in the present time, how can anyone honestly believe in supernatural happenings and superstitions? This baffles me during a time that human intelligence it at an all time high.

I found the website very interesting and it supports what I already believe. Thank you.

Comments: I personally don't think there is a problem with the Bible its more our lack of understanding, it wasn't written for our minds to try and work out as many have done and wondered off into religious error which I am sure you will agree with. It was written for our spirit, Jesus Himself said the word I speak to you is spirit and it is life. I am not at all offended being a born again Christian at your assumptions, thoughts and feelings, at least you believe in something and that's a good start. It is a little like that big bunch nothing that billions or years coursed one mighty big bang which finally over enormous time allowed us as sound thinking people to be able to site and write our thoughts to one another on a computer that ever so slowly over tens of thousands of years crawled its way out of some timeless slime. The Bible is a day by day learning walk of understanding, some like I would use the term year after year walk, under the guide of the Holy spirit who wrote the Bible. I quite often look up into the our southern sky in the early hours, the sky down here being so clear and wonder at the countless stars, the milkie way being so clear at times that my mind almost fuses out thinking that it is made up of trillions of stars and that is only those that I can see. Who indeed can understand the mind of God?
God Bless, Oh and He loves you, now isn't that something.
Regards.
Bob.

Comments: I wrote a book on basic and major Christian doctrines which is available at http://lulu.com/newkingom It's called As Wise as Serpents. One of the chapters deals very thoroughly on the subject of free and predestination, especially, what the Bible has to say with it. I also solved the so called "paradox", but only so far as the Bible did, which is where I got my answer.

Please spread the word about my books.

Comments: So I've gone through most of your website and I must say, I found many flaws. One that stuck out in my mind was when the account for God creating Eve for Adam. You commented and said, " In the first account, God makes humans (male and female) after the other animals; in the second, God makes a man first, then the other animals, and then a woman." actually the verse you have posted said God FORMED every animal and beast out of the ground. Formed and Create are not the same thing. You can form something without creating it, as in He formed the creatures for Adam to see and name, versus, He created the Heavens and the Earth. And to talk about translations, my Bible doesn't use the word "firmament", it uses "expanse", and refers to it as a "sky". Your webpage is very interesting, but I think you have many areas that are not objectively written and are bias rather than written based off of fact. Please email me. I would like to here your responses.

Wow, what work you have done. I ask did you put this site together all by yourself. Or should I say did you find all the material on you own. Good work man. Well done very organized and very well put together. I accually only have one problem, see the I read every reason on here and you state these as facts as you really are just speculating. You accually have no evidence what so ever. In fact I have a many contradictions with every one of your so called "facts" I think you just hate God man. A shame really. I bet you think christians are all these little evil poeple you wish to wipe off the face of the earth. hmm seems to me they follow peace and loving one another, good stuff. What does Atheism give. What are your morals, what do you give to society besides making stupid little web sites. I'll pray for you cause I know for a FACT that there is a God. I think satan's got you by the balls, sucks for you.
Peace man.

Comments: I like you writings. I can se your point of view. I think some or most of your questions will be answered by a few books I suggest. They are called the following:

"The case for faith"
"The case for Christ"
"The case for creation"

Both books do intensive research in linking the bible with history, science and popular beliefs.

I used to have many doubts about the validity of the Christian doctrine and this book helped me understand. The book was written by some one who once shared the athiest beleifs.

Let me know what you think once you have read them.

Comments: I do find you site intresting. It does show a very shallow person, who does not take time to complete the necessary research, thus providing a definitive conclusion.

I came out of the life you claim to live. Atheist, I doubt, you give no conclusive arguments against God. You only want to point out things you call questionable.

I am sure you have some sort of a belief system. If you do this is a faith or trust. I am sure you trust in your car to get you to work, your computer to get this email. All of this is based on trust. I did not hear you attack the design of man. Can you explain the evolutionary process in such a way to link the know fossil records to man from ooze? What about the first chapter of the book of Genesis, that made you fall asleep. When and how long did the spirit move over the face of the earth - 7,000 years of 50 million? You are no more accurate about what you claim, that all I thought I was.

Unlike you I was not raised in Christian home. I came from a pagan background. When my life caved in, I was in need of something no one could provide. I picked up the Bible, for the first time and began reading it. I did not fall asleep, I grew more interested in trying to understand who begat who and why? I finally realized there was a bigger scheme than the one I had argued against. It was God's scheme of Redemption. When you can give me an argument that the Bible canno answer, then I will believe you might be an athiest. Right now I think you are nothing more than a frustrate Baptist.

Comments: Hi there,

I always enjoy learning about others' perspectives about Christianity. I read your deconversion story, and I was struck by your discussion about science and the Bible.

I highly recommed that you visit www.reasons.org. There are many articles that deal with science and the Bible issues. There is also a weekly (usually every Tuesday) Web Cast program that discusses new reasons to believe in the God of the Bible. You can also call in and ask the speakers (several astrophysicists, a biochemist, and a philosopher) questions about science and/or the Bible if you desire to do so.

I hope this information will be useful to you.

Kindest regards,

Chris

Comments: hey -
as a philosophy student i am familiar with many of the arguments you have put forward here. I do however think that your account of 'contradictions' in the bible are a little simplistic and do not take into account perhaps some of the ornate imagery in the language found in the bible. They are valid points however, that can easily be included in an argument - but far from conclusive.
i completely agree with your description of christianity as arrogant - i have never heard/read it described in such a way but you have certainly hit the nail on the head!
Unfortunately our world seems to be slowly sliding into a society based on religion - rather than impartiality. Let's step out of what is essentially an outdated (and yet genius for it's time) scientific THEORY, and move into the REAL world.
my only hope is that another period of enlightenment is around the corner. Let's also hope we can get leaders who base their decisions on faith, out of office - and use the democratic process to elect an impartial leader with no 'tainted' view on the world.
an interesting and thought provoking site!

Comments: Hey there,

I completely share your frustration with religion. Religion is repulsive to me, really. It always turns out either strict and hypocritical, or else it is dumbed down with relativism so much that it might as well not even exist. I've been checking out the stuff that Jesus Christ said and did himself, though, and I'm finding them undenyably profound-- life changing, really. The guy's got some beautiful perspective on life and God and people and love. And he doesnt bother with religion, which is nice to see, because I dont much care for it either. I have been following the teachings of Christ for awhile now, and while I dont get quite a lot of his weighty claims and ideas, in really checking him out, I can't help but follow him. It's the first thing in my life, really, that's seemed real and not forced. Frankly I wouldnt blame you for leaving religion out of whatever window you threw it out of, but check out the person and message of Christ directly. It's pretty impactful, I think.

from one life journeyer to another,
devin
